Power is a natural accompaniment to exalted positions. The Winning Wisdom reflected by the leader is the differentiator. If Power goes to the leaders hands, the leader becomes helpful and does positive things for others. If Power unfortunately goes to his head, the leader becomes destructive and ends up becoming arrogant. We are all familiar with overwhelming evidence that establishes the fact that humble leaders outperform arrogant leaders. Why do then leaders find it so difficult at every level to check their egos at the security gates of their offices ? When ego and insecurity combine, Arrogance is the natural outcome. Humility and Ambition need not be at odds. Indeed, humility in the service of ambition is the most effective and sustainable mindset for leaders who aspire to do big things in a world filled with huge unknowns. Organisational leadership for assessment therefore now circles around what are called the 'H' personality traits which are a combination of the FRUITS of 'Humility & Honesty' and which includes : - Fairness - Respect - Unpretentiousness - Interpersonal modesty - Truthfulness and - Sincerity Only when Role Competencies emulsify and combine with the 'H' Factors effectively, is a successful inspirational leader born.Â
