Career Vs. Calling !

Most leaders who accomplish unprecedented success and yet continue to be tranquil & placid, operate from their level of 'wholeness'. At this level, the leader operates full throttle ... embracing all that he is & all that he is capable of from within his Mind, Body, Heart, Soul & Spirit.

Carl Jung refers to this as 'individuation' - the process of journeying towards the authentic core of who one is & wanting to live from that place...(Warren Buffet, Bill Gates, Ratan Tata, Azim Premji).

The book - 'Balancing Heaven & Earth' distinguishes between 'Career' & 'Calling'. A career fulfills our earthly desires for comfort, power, recognition & safety. Calling is linked to our purpose & makes us accept much deeper & higher order challenges.

Whilst we choose a 'Career', a 'Calling' effectively chooses us. For that to happen, you have to be calm within, listening to one's inner voice & following its urgings...not compromising it for myopic career successes!

The most obvious question then is - what is the secret potion ??? Harold Whitman answers this rather well, when

he says :

"Don't ask yourself what the world needs; ask yourself what makes you Come Alive ? And then go & do that. Because what the world needs are people who succeed when they have come alive."
