Mindful Suppression

Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, in the here and now. It is about being aware of where we are, what we’re doing and not becoming overly reactive, disturbed, overwhelmed , distracted or influenced by what’s going on around us. It is actually about not allowing unpleasant past experiences to distress and disturb the present.

Past experiences have a unique tendency to act as strong emotive triggers to the present situations. Moreso if they are negative. The here and now is acutely disturbed by experiences from the past that trigger negative memories and emotions.

At the cusp of experience (where the rubber hits the road), negative experiences have a superquick ability to trigger undesirable feelings and toxic, painful and unhappy emotions. This blocks the ability of a person to be mindful.

Unplesant experiences, unhappy thoughts, undesirable recollections cannot be avoided in Corporate life. They are all an ongoing part of one's work life and experiences. Unfortunately, these experiences have no 'Best Before Date' . They have an ability to slow linger not only into one's present but also create a negative triggering, in the future.

High time the world realises the valuable role 'Suppression' plays in human Mindfulness and leadership success !
