Better Be Wise Than Brazenly Brave

Recognizing when we are in dangerous situations is crucial. Continuing to fight in such circumstances can be naive. Emotional battles often invite ego into the mix, leading to a 'You Or Me' mentality that clouds our rationality.

A wiser approach would be to step back, reassess the situation, and return with a new strategy and the right tools. Unfortunately, ego can create a fog that convinces us this is the only decisive moment, even when logic suggests otherwise.

In the book "Courage to Be Disliked," Adler presents a compelling analogy: imagine a rope with one end in your hand and the other in a lion's mouth. It would be unwise to view this as a life-defining battle as the lion moves closer. Sometimes, the best choice is to cut the rope rather than engage in a futile struggle driven by ego.

We all encounter such challenges in life, including at work. While it's important to stand up for what matters, it's equally essential to analyze the situation and devise a better strategy rather than recklessly charging into a losing battle.
