Sweet are the uses of Adversity
If destruction necessarily precedes reconstruction, then prosperity conceals genius and adversity reveals it . Horace, the Latin Poet-Philosopher said this.
Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents, which in prosperous circumstances would have lain dormant & withered away.
Survival in adversity is a challenge. People will not blame you if you collapse. They will label you as a victim, forgive your failures but will soon forget you as well !!!
However, struggles maketh one, heroic. Heroes are celebrated when they climb mountains on blades or prosthetic limbs.
In 'As You Like it', William Shakespere makes Duke Senior reveal his belief : "Sweet are the uses of adversity which, like the toad, ugly and venomous, wears yet a precious jewel in its head”. It continues thus ... "And this our life, exempt from public haunt, finds tongues in trees, books in the running brooks, sermons in stones & good in everything".
Adversity is an opportunity and can be put by the great & wise to great use. It can even turn out to teach us a valuable lesson. It is like a disgusting and poisonous toad, but one that bears a precious gem on its head !
It certainly gave me an opportunity to reignite some of my abandoned passions and market explore these unventured opportunities .
You ???
