For the delight of your soul

Some friends cornered me at the New Years' eve party and asked me this quintessential question... " what motivates you to keep doodling each day ? "

Well, I maneuvered to avoid answering it keeping the spirit of the moment in mind, but the question continued to remain lingering in my mind for the next 2 days.

Sometimes these doodles may be cute, sometimes interesting, sometimes crude and some  overstated. And still sometimes more, plain boring .

This question thus set me aside privately trying to answer this question - why do I really invest time in conceiving, conceptualizing, sketching and sharing doodles with so many of my friends every day ??? Moreso, when there is no commercial interest...

I do it for I 'enjoy' doing it. And having done so, I prefer to share it with my other friends hoping that it could help them learn something new.  If not, then I am mindful that there is always the 'delete' button on their cell-phones which they will not hesitate to use.

This reminds me of the words of Tulsidasa as narrated in the invocation of his epic poetry of Ramcharitramanas. He says....

" The story of Ramchandra, as narrated in the Valmiki Ramayan and the Adhyatma Ramayan after reinforcing and revitalizing it with the essence of whatever the Puranas, the Vedas, and other scriptures could give, I , Tulsidas, am writing this for the delight of my own soul".

I would thus urge you to indulge and do whatever you feel like doing for the pure delight of your soul. And if you do so, then you would enjoy doing it without fear of evaluation or impact of its consequences. It cannot then go wrong.

Do things that delight your soul is my theme thus for the New Year. You try it too. Promise you, it won't go wrong.
