Losing And 'Loser'

Losing a few games or losing out in a situation does not make one a 'Loser'. They are very different.

Losing is a reality linked to an outcome. Not believing in existence of the next opportunity - a chance to make good and prove is the decaying perspective that makes a loser ... it is a mind-set that makes a person unfortunately believe that the game lost was the last game played.

Many fallen stars have arisen like the phoenix from their initial fall-outs to be then celebrated as Super- Stars. Before J.K. Rowling had any 'Harry Potter' success, the writer was a divorced singled mother on doles and government welfare programs, struggling to get by while working and writing her novel. Oprah Winfrey - the TV Moghul, at age 22, was fired from her job as a television reporter because some producers initially found her to be 'unfit for tv.'

Sir Sydney Poitier went on to win an Oscar for 'Lilies of the Field' in 1964 and also the 1967's super successful 'Guess Who's Coming To Dinner.' Wow but do you know that after his initial audition, Poitier, who grew up in the poor black suburbs, was told by a casting director, "Why don't you stop wasting people's time and go out and become a dishwasher or something?". Well, well.

After being rejected from his high school basketball team, a young Michael Jordan went home and cried in the privacy of his bedroom. But he did not stop playing... instead he maniacally started practicing with double energy.

Steve Jobs was a college dropout, a fired tech executive and an unsuccessful businessman...but he did not grow up to hate Apples !!!

Inspirational narratives from the lives of some of these celebrities who initially failed several times before becoming successful persons in their respective industries and becoming inspirational icons only reiterates the belief that you make yourself a Loser when you do not believe in the 'next' opportunities to fight and win back the lost battles.
