The real leader has to keep raising the performance bar for his team members higher & higher moreso when he sees talent with high potential not making the full stretch.
The leader is like a diamond cutter. The diamond, however big that it may be, reflects potential capacity of talent. It will get its sparkle and value only when the cutter decides, upon examination, to appropriately bruit and polish it to enhance its 4 Cs - Colour, Cut, Clarity and Carot.
Potential of the Diamond is important but the role of the cutter is critical. So is the role of a leader in converting potential talent into real time value creating talent, where the rubber hits the road
