The Shock Of The Flock!

When you are not certain of your directions, the only path you can adopt is the one where you see most people walking on... right or wrong. You make an assumption that someone from the majority must have attempted to investigate before making the choice to follow some leader and thus you could blindly follow aswell. You, without seriously checking, assume that this blindly-chosen path will lead you to your goal. Some more may see you and decide to follow the big group and thus it then becomes bigger ! The non-challant journey of the blind to doom.

The real folly lies in this assumption. No one really confirms if the original follower indeed had checked-out or what was the destination he was pursuing!!! Social it collectively becomes a journey of the blind troops to an unknown destination !

George Orwell summed it up rather sharply ... there is no similarity between a sheep standing on its hind legs and a man. But a flock of sheep standing on their hind legs and a crowd of me are identical !! Thus flock mentality is the prime cause of all collective failures and fallacies in societies be they empires, nations, clubs, plotical parties or business organisations.

Your brain is critical, your thinking extremely valuable and thus indulge in original thinking before you blindly pursue the flock without direction like those children who mindlessly followed their friends who unknowingly in return were swayed by the vengeful Pied-Piper to their doom.

Always see direction of the majority but listen to the logic of the Minority and then decide for yourself before you decide to get swayed.
